Hi friends! I’ve been trying for a while to get back into writing blog posts. I didn’t want to start writing again until I had good stories to share. I felt like this was a perfect time!
In late January, I visited my maid-of-honor Sarah in Chicago. Through winning a giveaway via Instagram, Sarah won a one night stay in this really cool hotel called Bangtel. She then got in touch to her photographer friend, a couple of hair and makeup friends, a DJ (also her boyfriend) and threw me an awesome bachelorette party with her super-cool friends! Due to my wedding being in August and that being a busy work time for Sarah, we decided to have a bachelorette party now rather than my only having one and her missing it. I’ll probably have another party with the rest of my bridal party at a later date closer to the wedding.
Bangtel? What is Bangtel?
Bangtel has several hotels in the Chicago area, all having different themes. We stayed in their Aloha suite in Wicker Park. It has this killer tropical theme that we all loved! Brightly colored walls, unique themed furniture and decor (there’s a pink fake hammerhead shark above the mantle and fireplace), neat neon signs in the some of the bedrooms. They even had a jacuzzi in the master bathroom. It also was close to cool shops and food takeout places in Wicker Park and right off the subway. Probably one of the coolest hotels I’ve stayed in!
Party Aesthetic
Sarah’s general aesthetic for this party was aligned with the Aloha suite. She asked partygoers to wear tropical party clothes. Ladies were encouraged to bring a change of comfortable pajama clothes. I started off the night wearing a dress from Christopher & Banks my mother had bought me over a year ago. I found a cute tropical pajama set on Amazon for $32.99. After taking my measurements, I learned I was a XXL and it fit me perfectly!

Overall, I had a wonderful time! Chicago treated this Missouri girl very well. I certainly will be posting a part two of my Chicago trip that will include the trip to Garfield Conservatory and King’s Spa and finally, a part three chronicling my dabbling in hot yoga.
